One of the ladies at my talk last night made me aware of a ‘scam’ e-mail which she had recently received from an e-mail address titled ‘Notice of Appearance’. This e-mail contained an attachment which purported to contain further details of a notice to attend Court. The e-mail was finalised with the words ‘Truly Yours, Clerk to the Court, Sharon Smith’. This e-mail is a ‘scam’ and should be deleted. If you should receive this or a similar e-mail please don’t open the attachment as it may well contain a virus which could corrupt your computer. If you are ever required to attend Court you will receive official notification rather than a brief unexpected e-mail. IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE BEEN THE VICTIM OF A FRAUD PLEASE REPORT THE CIRCUMSTANCES TO ACTION FRAUD AT WWW.ACTIONFRAUD.POLICE.UK OR 0300 123 2040
