Week 3 of National Home Security Month focuses on protecting your possessions in the home. Computers and electrical goods are the type of property which are most likely to be stolen in domestic burglaries. Please consider property-marking these items using an ultra-violet (UV) pen. If you put your house number (or the first two letters of your house name if you have no number) and your postcode on the back or in a discreet place on these goods it will greatly increase the chances of the police identifying it should you be unfortunate enough to have it stolen. In the Lincolnshire Police area you can get everything you need to mark these items by contacting the Community Safety Department on 01522 558146. If you live in another Force area your local police may well operate in a similar way so it would be worth contacting them. Please also remember that you can register all electrical items free on the National Property Register Immobilise at www.immobilise.com
