A Royal Mail study has revealed that people are putting themselves at risk of ID crime by not re-directing their mail when they move home. More than 1 in 10 (15%) of new owners found post addressed to the previous occupant on their doorstep. Of those new owners, more than half (52%) stated that they had received sensitive financial mail intended for the previous occupant. It is recommended that people who move house should ensure that they have a re-direction in place for at least 12 months. PLEASE ALSO THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE THROWING OUT ANYTHING WITH YOUR PERSONAL OR FINANCIAL DETAILS ON. THESE ITEMS SHOULD BE SHREDDED AS IDENTITY FRAUDSTERS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO TRAWL THROUGH BINS TO LOCATE SUCH DETAILS
