Lincolnshire Police are warning residents to be vigilant when dealing with potential bogus callers and rogue traders after an incident of distraction burglary in Lincoln on Tuesday 20th May.  At about 9.10am a man called at an address claiming to be from the TV Licensing Agency. He told the occupier that their TV licence was due and that they would have to pay £200 on the spot or £1000 a few days later. The occupier handed the cash to the man who then left. The person responsible is described as a white man in his 40’s, about 5’10” , medium build with swept or greased back hair. He was wearing a light blue shirt and a suit. This was a ‘scam’ which may well be used again in the future. PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS WHEN DEALING WITH COLD CALLERS AT YOUR DOOR AND NEVER HAND OVER ANY CASH OR DISCLOSE BANK DETAILS.
