The subject of contactless bank cards and whether they are safe to use is something I am regularly asked about. I will soon be sending out a post explaining how, if you do use them and want to continue to do so, you may wish to take precautions to make sure that you don’t become a victim of fraud. In the meantime, please bear in mind that you don’t have to keep a contactless bank card. Banks tend to issue them when your old card expires but if you don’t use the contactless facility you can ask the bank to issue you with a new card which isn’t contactless. If you’re not sure whether your current card(s) are contactless, they will either have the word ‘contactless’ written on them or will display a symbol which is similar to )))) on the card.
