There have been a number of instances in Lincolnshire and other areas where bogus phone calls have been received. The caller will claim to be from Microsoft (or on occasions another computer company) and will tell you that your computer has a virus or some problem which is interfering with other internet services. They will ask you to hand over control of your computer to them so that they can fix the problem. They may also ask you to give them financial account details as they claim that they will need to charge you for repair. On occasions these callers have resorted to threats when their requests have not been met. This is a SCAM intended to con you either to access your computer or to obtain your bank details. If you should receive such a phone call please decline the offer and hang up. Please also report details to Police on 101. NEVER GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL DETAILS, BANK DETAILS OR COMPUTER ACCESS DETAILS OVER THE PHONE
