During the morning of Saturday 31st January two incidents of distraction burglary took place in the Lincoln area. At about 10.00am a man called at the home of an 86 year old woman claiming to be from the council and offering to fit a safe at the address. After he had left the premises it was discovered that a purse containing cash had been stolen. About an hour later a man visited the home of a couple in their late 80’s. Again he claimed to be from the council and on this occasion stated that he was fitting alarms due to burglaries in the area. Cash was taken from a wardrobe. Police are linking the two incidents as it is believed that the same man was responsible. He is described as white, in his 40’s, about 5’7″, bald and of medium build. He was wearing a navy blue jumper with a logo (no other details) and blue jeans. PLEASE DON’T LET ANYONE INTO YOUR HOME UNLESS YOU ARE COMPLETELY SATISFIED THAT THEY ARE GENUINE. IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS WHATSOEVER THAT A CALLER MAY BE BOGUS PLEASE CALL POLICE.
